Join Christopher Rawlins, architect and best-selling author of "Fire Island Modernist: Horace Gifford and the Architecture of Seduction", newly reissued in an expanded edition. He is also the founder of the Pines Modern conservancy and the Principal of Rawlins Design.
Having centered the midcentury beach house as an object of cultural and architectural significance, he now restores them. Christopher is also pioneering new, resilient vacation home designs in an era of climate change. Join Christopher as he recounts his journey through the past, present, and future of the modern vacation home. A book signing will take place after the talk.

In the wake of Los Angeles’ devastating wildfires, rebuilding presents both a challenge and an opportunity: to create homes that are more resilient, thoughtful and better prepared for the future. This panel brings together leading experts in architecture, landscape design, construction and development to share lessons learned from rebuilding in fire-affected communities, and the strategies shaping the next generation of safer homes. Moderated by Naomi Swertfeger of By Naomi Leigh, the conversation will feature Geddes Ulinskas of Geddes Ulinskas Architects, Patricia Benner of Benner Reibel Landscape Architects, Matt Boyd of Boyd Contracting and Steven Somers of Crest Real Estate. Together, they’ll explore the practical and design-forward considerations of rebuilding after wildfire - from fire-resistant architecture and defensible landscaping to construction methods, site planning and development insights. This panel brings together Rydhima Brar of R/terior Studio, Cesar Giraldo of Cesar Giraldo Design, Luca Rubinacci, Creative Director of Rubinacci, and designer Xavier Delvallee - each of whom has collaborated with 11 Ravens on distinctive collections. Brar, Giraldo, and Rubinacci partnered with the brand on sculptural game table designs, while Delvallee designed 11 Ravens’ latest furniture and lighting collection. Together, they will discuss how tradition is reinterpreted rather than replicated, how craftsmanship anchors innovation, and how honoring heritage can shape meaningful, forward-thinking work today. Following the panel, guests are invited to a reception at the 11 Ravens showroom to experience the latest in custom game tables, furniture, and lighting design.

Designing for the Collector: Creating Homes for Art

Designing a home for an art collector requires a unique level of collaboration, precision and foresight. From architecture and interiors to lighting, installation and logistics, every decision must consider how art will live within the space. This panel brings together the experts who work behind the scenes to ensure a home not only showcases a collection beautifully but also protects and supports it. Featuring Sarah Jane Bruce of SJB Fine Art Services, James Corr of Corr Contemporary Homes, John Anderson of JKA Design, and Brad Williams of Starr Williams Architecture, the conversation will explore what it takes to design and build a residence around a significant art collection. Panelists will discuss the early planning decisions that shape successful collector homes, from architectural considerations and specialized lighting to installation, storage, transportation and security.
